With 13 sandstone arches and a curve at its northern end, West Vale viaduct on the short Stainland branch is now protected by a Grade II listing. Sustrans recently took responsibility for it and, in partnership with Calderdale Council, is carrying out £125,000 worth of work on the structure with a view to opening it as part of Route 66 on the National Cycle Network.
