Thousands of miles of railway succumbed to the economic realities of post-war Britain and the motor car’s inexorable quest for world domination. Scrap men salvaged the metalwork, dereliction introduced itself to the buildings and nature reclaimed the rest.

But many trackbeds still cling to relics of their former past. Why not take a virtual stroll along one of these corridors to see what’s hiding in the undergrowth.
