Cliburn signal box

A year after traffic first climbed over Stainmore, a branch was opened from Kirkby Stephen East to Penrith. Cliburn Crossing was one of nine signal boxes on the route. The adjacent station closed in September 1956 but the box was still in business when the line was severed in 1962. Although its innards have been gutted, the exterior remains in great condition.
